13 Unique Gift Ideas that Inspire Learning

Date:

Now that fall’s in full swing, the Christmas season is creeping ever and ever closer. As a mom who strives to be practical in every way, I try to steer clear of presents for my kids that are mere “fluff.” I want their gifts to have substance; I want them to inspire learning, and I want them to last.

Sound like a tall order?

I used to think so, but the other week, some lovely ladies in my Facebook group shared some of the most unique gift ideas I’ve ever come across.

Today I’d like to share them with you.

1. Magformers

Gift your little builder with these amazing STEM-inspired sets.

2. Train Set

Train sets are no longer a thing of the past. Inspire hands-on learning with these timeless models.

3. Devotional Book

Help your kids grow closer to God with their very own devotional journal.

4. Fishing Pole

Get your kids away from those screens and outside in the fresh air.

5. Cookware

Encourage your budding chef with their very own cookware.

6. Camping Gear

Again, you just can’t go wrong when it comes to getting your kids to enjoy the outdoors.

7. Sponsor a Child

What better way to teach your children about compassion than by sponsoring a child in honor of the holidays?

8. Zoo Passes

Or museum, aquarium, or other “experience” memberships.

9. Magazine or Monthly Box Subscriptions

What child doesn’t love to get mail?

10. Ozobot

This is the ultimate 21st-century learning toy.

11. Magic School Bus Science Kit

There are so many different kinds of kits, and each one is as awesome as the others.

12. Gift Card

As much as kids like presents, some like having their own money even more. A gift card is a bit safer than actual money, especially for kids like mine who are likely to spend all of their money on candy…

13. Fish Tank

A fish is the perfect beginner pet!

There are literally so many ideas out there for inspiring and thoughtful gifts for the children in our lives.

After spending years trying to discover the Lord’s will for me, I finally realized that I could use my spiritual gift of encouragement to lift up other mothers who have taken this rewarding, yet sometimes tiring, journey of homeschooling. When I’m not busy chasing kids, homeschooling, drinking coffee, or devouring books at the library, you can find me at my blog, There’s No Place Like Home, or on my YouTube channel of the same name, at https://www.youtube.com/user/redheadmom8
